| The SFFD took a very, very, very close first place (okay...actually second place over all) in the Novice Division at this year’s Ninth Annual Dragonboat Championships held September 25th, at Lake Merced. With over thirty teams vying for first place, our strategies to a successful finish included timing, technique, and especially team work. We finished second behind the “United States Marine Corp” Team, who were close to perfect in all their races.The “Fire Dragon Team” consists of members in the fire department and their families. Our entry fee and costs are graciously donated by the Asian Firefighters Association and Firefighters Local 798. For the eighth year, the SFFD continues to promote the sport and build strong relations with the thousands of paddlers from the Bay Area and beyond that participate in this event. Special thanks to our head chef, Ed Moy, who cooked a feast and kept our paddlers fueled and ready to go! |
